Louise Johanna Vizena, 86, of Maas St., Negaunee, passed away peacefully at home in the care of her loving family and UP Home Health and Hospice Friday afternoon, May 19, 2017.
Louise was born December 13, 1930 in Negaunee to Edwin and Lillian (Mattson) Peterson and graduated from Negaunee High School. She was employed for many years as a sales clerk at K-Mart.
Mrs. Vizena was a member of Eastwood Apostolic Lutheran Church and was a lifetime member of the Negaunee VFW Auxiliary. She was an avid reader and enjoyed working crossword puzzles and playing BINGO. Living near the Carp River, she enjoyed watching the deer and other animals in the backyard. In her younger years, she enjoyed walking, hiking and floating the river.
Surviving are her husband, Robert ‘Crow’ Vizena; daughters: Marjorie (David) Healey of Negaunee and Gail Sippola of National Mine; son, Daniel Vizena of Negaunee; grandchildren: Darryll (Jean) Healey, Brian (Kelly) Healey, Michael (Jill) Waters, Debra (Paul) Coleman, Heather (Chris) Vizena, Angela Shipley, Daniel (Ashley) Vizena and Samantha Vizena; great-grandchildren: Nicholas, Logan, Eliana, Lily and Kylee. She was preceded in death by her parents; two infant children: Darryll Paul and Paul Frederick Vizena; her first husband, Arvo John Sippola; brother, John Peterson; three sisters: Gladys Makinen, Ruth and Alice Arbelius; and a daughter-in-law, Linda (Savard) Vizena.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 25th at Eastwood Apostolic Lutheran Church with Rev. Dale Niskanen officiating. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends for one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday, and also at a luncheon in the church hall. Louise’s grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
