Annmarie Judith Hytinen, 16, of Negaunee, loving daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, and cousin passed away early Thursday morning, March 30, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay due to complications following an asthma attack.
Annmarie was born December 14, 2000 in Marquette to Catherine Lynn Ritzenhein and Steven Victor Hytinen and grew up in Negaunee. She was an honor student at Negaunee High School. She enjoyed music, reading, playing soccer, and was passionate about animals. She loved traveling. Most recently she took a family road trip to Lake Tahoe, where she swam and spent time with family. She also loved to spend time at the family cottage in Stonington, MI, where there is a lighthouse named after her. She treasured her time with her friends, especially the “Original 5.” She valued happiness and was well-known for her practical jokes and sense of humor. Her infectious laughter and love will live in the hearts of everyone who knew Annmarie.
Surviving are her loving parents; sisters: Shana (Andy Bertocchi) Hytinen of Gwinn and Courtney Pentecost of Sparks, NV; brother, Anthony Newman at home in Negaunee; maternal grandparents: Judy and Jim Ritzenhein of Vulcan; nephew, Seth Hytinen-Kilgren; aunts and uncles: Chris Ritzenhein, Andy (Kris) Ritzenhein, Ann Walker, Jim (Liz) Hytinen and Joanne (Jeff) Gibitz; many special cousins and close friends; her pet dog Dexter and two cats, Kiki and Dutch. Annmarie was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents: Richard Hytinen and Judy (Don) Trost, cousin: Abraham Ritzenhein, and her pet dog Bandit.
Memorial services will be held at 5:00 pm on Thursday, April 6th at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Steven Solberg officiating. The family will greet relatives and friends from 2:00 pm until the time of services at 5:00 pm at the church on Thursday, and also at a dinner reception in the church hall following services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed in Annmarie’s memory to UPAWS, 84 Snowfield Rd., Negaunee, MI 49866, and Negaunee Public Schools 101 South Pioneer Avenue, Negaunee, MI 49866 in Honor of Annmarie Hytinen.
