Obituary for EUGENE EDWARD "Pete" DILLON

Eugene Edward ‘Pete’ Dillon, 88, of State Hwy M-95, Republic Township, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning, November 30, 2016 at UP Health System Marquette surrounded by his loving family.
Eugene was born December 20, 1927 in Elkhart, Indiana to Charles and Katie (Giggy) Dillon. Pete served in the Merchant Marines during WWII from 1943-1945. Pete married Angeline May Blum in 1945 and moved from Three Rivers, Michigan to Republic in 1952. He worked for Kimberly-Clark driving log truck, Cleveland Cliffs Mining in their mill, and finished his career operating logging equipment for his son Charlie.
Mr. Dillon was a member of the First Baptist Church of Witch Lake. He enjoyed hunting, four wheeling, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Surviving are three sons: Paul (Lois) Dillon of Iron Mountain, Charles (Christy) Dillon of Republic and Larry (Holly) Dillon of Germantown, WI; 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pete was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 67 years, Angeline on February 21, 2013; a daughter, Sandra Dricken; a brother, Robert and a sister, Margarite Dillon.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am EST on Saturday, December 3rd at the First Baptist Church of Witch Lake with Rev. Kevin Brownfield officiating. Burial will take place at Northland Chapel Gardens. The family will greet relatives and friends for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday and also at a luncheon immediately following services at the church. Pete’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the First Baptist Church of Witch Lake in Pete’s memory.
